Springfield's Favorite Family Makes Its Debut in Psyonix's Hit Game: Unfortunately Not the Vehicle You're Hoping For
It was previously announced that The Simpsons was teaming up with Fortnite, but that's not the only destination where fans can immerse themselves in the universe of Springfield. The long-running series is also making its way to Rocket League, introducing an vehicle customization option that will also be compatible in Fortnite. However, if gamers will actually want to use it is another question, as there's only one Simpsons vehicle everyone is eager to drive, and this isn't it.
What Fans Really Want
Although most players would undoubtedly love to compete while driving Homer's custom creation—the notoriously impractical automobile the patriarch designed personally in the classic installment "the one where he meets Herb"—that's not what players are receiving. Not even getting the massive SUV, the heavy-duty truck showcased in the tenth season. Instead, players are getting the family's standard beat-up four-door, which has been in the family since the show's early days. Though this particular car has accumulated plenty of miles, it remains an iconic element of the show. And for players who analyze the game's vehicle dimensions, the Simpson family car shares the identical collision model as the Dominus.

More Than Just a Car
And it's not the sole customization item from the show arriving in the game. This limited-time event will also include a series of objectives to earn more rewards, all of which are Simpsons-themed. As detailed in a official announcement, the missions will task players to "achieve a certain number of centers and clears as there are The Simpsons seasons, collect boost pickups as if your GPS is set to The Simpsons’ residence, and drive a distance sufficient for picking up the perfect donuts!"
While the complete list of challenge rewards hasn't been disclosed, here is what's been announced up to this point:
- Blinky antenna topper
- Homer's hedge-themed banner
- Waste wheels
- 20,000 XP per challenge
Based on promotional images is a reliable guide, it appears fans will also get rims with a television displaying The Simpsons' opening credits, alien antenna toppers, a frosted doughnut trail, and boost effects inspired by burning tires and Krusty's famous restaurant.
Event Timing and Fortnite Connection
This event coincides with the extensive Simpsons invasion of Fortnite's island, which includes a brand-new map of Springfield, in addition to a month-long seasonal progression system. The Rocket League x The Simpsons event launches on Saturday, Nov. 1 and ends on Nov. 17.
